SCIENTIFIC BACKGROUND

To satisfy various functional and emotional needs, humans have created unique breeds of domestic dog via selective breeding. This process has led to a significant morphological variety of domestic dogs. There are major differences between breeds of dogs in height, body weight and the range of the sizes and shapes of their heads. Moreover, there are variations within breeds and even between sexes within the same breed. Typically, the shapes of the heads of the dogs are subdivided into three main categories, long (dolichocephalic), medium (mesaticephalic) and short (brachycephalic). Consequently, due to these differences between dog breeds, it is impossible to have a protective collar with a simple geometric shape, e.g. a cone, which would effectively work for all breeds of dogs. Therefore, in Charlie Care, we have developed a unique approach that has culminated in the product called Charlie CollarTM, which is available in 14 different shapes and sizes to acknowledge the anatomies of the vast majority of the dog breeds. During the product development phase, СHARLIE COLLAR TM has gone through ten iterations and we have measured over 120 dogs of different breeds to create the final shapes of our protective collar.
